RUNNERS GUIDE

  • Sydney Trail Half Marathon, Night Edition, Race Details:

    • Date: Saturday the 21st of March

    • Start Time: 7:00 PM

    • Start Location: Golden Jubilee Field (Back Oval)

    • Finish Location: St Ives Showground (Jim Watson Arena)

    • Race Day Bib Collection: 5:45 pm (Golden Jubilee Field)

    • Race Briefing: 6:45 pm

    • Race Start: 7:00 pm

    • Expected First Finisher: 8:35 pm

    • Cut Off Time : 11:00 pm

  • Race Day: You can collect your bib between 5:45 PM and 6:45 PM at Golden Jubilee Field.

    Bib Numbers will be emailed to you the week of the race.

  • If you have not purchased an additional shuttle bus ticket you will have to find your own way to the startline.

  • There is plenty of parking found at St Ives Showground.

    There is some parking found at the Golden Jubilee Field. Otherwise there is plenty of street parking just outside of the field.

  • The following mandatory gear is required:

    • 1 x mobile phone

    • 1 x Head Torch

    • The ability to carry 500ml of water. This can be a flask, bladder, water bottle, etc…

    You will not be able to start the race without a working head torch.

  • The Sydney Trail Half Marathon course offers a dynamic trail running experience, blending technical single track sections with fire trail portions that allow for a more open stride. As you navigate the route, you'll encounter varying terrain, including challenging hills and scenic stretches that showcase the natural beauty of the area. It's important to approach the more technical segments with caution, taking your time and being mindful of your footing to ensure a safe and enjoyable run.

    Should you find yourself behind a slower runner, we ask that you exercise patience and courtesy by politely requesting space to pass when it's safe for them to do so. Likewise, if you hear someone approaching from behind, please allow them the opportunity to overtake. This mutual respect among runners will contribute to a positive atmosphere throughout the event.

    Half Marathon Course Link:

    There is a strict 4hr cutoff time for the half marathon

  • There will be a bag drop available at the start line of the race (Golden Jubilee Field)

    All bags must be marked with your name and no valuables left in your bag (this includes phone & keys). You will be able to collect your bag at the finish line at St Ives Showground.

  • In order to complete the course runners are required to cross multiple roads.

    All roads will have traffic control marshals stationed to help you cross the road.

    Remember to look before crossing and listen to the marshals.

  • We will be working with the best photographers in the business to get you some amazing race photos that you will receive for free after the event. A link will be sent to you when they are ready to download.

  • Toilets can be found on the start and finish line. Portaloos are also at the aid station.

  • There will be trophies awarded to the first, second and third males & females to cross the line.

    There are no age group trophies or awards.

    There will be live results. We will share the link pre race.

    Final results will be sent to you after the race + uploaded to UTMB for indexing

  • There is an aid station found at the Warrimoo Track exit 15.8 kms into the race. There is also an aid station once you cross the finish line

    What is at the 15.8 aid station:

    • Pure Gels

    • Pure Electrolyte (mixed w/ water)

    • Water

    • Oranges

    • Snakes

    What is at the finish aid station:

    • Post race BBQ

    • Water

  • Safety is a top priority for us at the Sydney Trail Half Marathon, Night Edition. We strongly encourage all runners to keep an eye out for one another throughout the race.

    Should you encounter any issues or emergencies during the event, please do not hesitate to contact the race director & medical staff immediately. Their numbers are found on the back of your bib.

    For your safety and wellbeing, we have trained medical staff stationed at the aid stations and race hub. Additionally, to ensure everyone's safety throughout the event, we have multiple marshals out on course.

  • Once the podium has been decided there will be a short prize giving presentation.

    After crossing the finishing line of the Sydney Trail Half Marathon you will receive a medal + 180 Cadence bucket hat.

    There will also be a post race BBQ

  • All runners will receive a 180 Cadence Black Bucket Hat for signing up to the Sydney Trail Half Marathon, Night Edition. You will be able to collect this on race day after you finish the race.

  • Given that the course can be quite technical at points it is our recommendation that you wear a trail running shoes during the event

    We recommend that you head over to your local running store and try some on.

  • The race starts at Golden Jubilee Field and finishes at St Ives Showground. In order to help you get to the start line, we'll be offering a coach service from St Ives Showground. 

    • Pick up location: St Ives Showground

    • Pick up time: 5:55 pm (1 hour before the start of the race)

    • Drop off location: Golden Jubilee Field

    • Drop off time: 6:15 pm (approx 45 mins before the start of the race)

    FAQs:

    • The coach is optional.

    • All tickets must be pre purchased.

    • Tickets are limited. Once sold out we cannot offer more.

    • Exact shuttle bus pick up location is emailed to runners a few days prior to race day.

MANDATORY GEAR LIST

  • This is a night trail run and it is mandatory that you have a head torch (waist torches & handheld torches are excepted) that can illuminate your way.

    You will be unable to start the race without a head torch.

    Your phone can not be used as your torch.

  • Must be fully charged with a live SIM card capable of making calls and accessing the internet.

  • This can be in the form of 1 × 500ml running flasks, a bladder or normal water bottles.

    Please note that STHM is a cupless event.

The Sydney Trail Half Marathon course traverses trails where it might take some time for medical and support services to reach you, therefore it is essential that every athlete carry their mandatory gear at all times.

STHM is also a cupless event. Athletes are required to carry their own drinking cup, bottle, flask or hydration vest which can be used at the aid stations.
